Nelson the Cat needs a home

Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.

Meet Nelson!

This handsome boy with the most expressive face and eyes is everything you may be looking for!. He is a sweetheart and loves to interact with you and give whisker kisses. He enjoys attention from his humans, playing with his toys, and gets along well with kitty friends who have been in a foster home with him, as well as his kitty friends in our cat adoption center just recently.

His foster mom had this to say about him:  “He is definitely a lap cat. I work from home and he just comes over to me and purrs and parks on in my lap without me putting him there. You can also hear him purring in his video. He and my cat became friends and play all the time together now. I think Nelson would be a great cat for anyone because he warms up really quickly and loves to cuddle. Also he is the smartest cat I have ever met. I am and sure you could clicker train him very easily to play fetch and do other tricks. As I said, he was sleeping in a sanctuary room but after a few nights he figured out how to open the round door knob and would always let himself out. Needless to say, he doesn't sleep there anymore and takes a spot on the bed with our cat and us.

Nelson had several previous fracture in a leg;foot which happened before he ws rescued and which we were not aware of at the time. We noticed that there was a problem and we took him in to be seen by a specialist. He was kept in a smaller area in a foster home for some time in order to limit his activity while he was healing and to give him lots of TLC. He is doing very well now, though.

When asked about how he is doing now regarding the fractures, his foster mom had this to say: "Regarding your questions about his fractures: He runs and plays a lot and loves to jump high for his toys. Until now, we have not noticed any limping, just that his fracture caused him to have a twisted foot (as you said). However, he does have trouble jumping to high places. Our bed, for example, is probably 3 feet high and sometimes he has to grab on the edge because he just misses it. Jumping off from high places to the ground is not a problem though. If he goes anywhere higher than 3 feet he looks for a stepping board first, so he has not been on our kitchen counter so far (unlike our other cat). I would say all in all he is a normal kitty just clumsy sometimes but he always bounces back and most people probably would not notice. I would hope no one would judge him for his fracture because he is honestly so fun and really intelligent, anyone who takes him will not regret it. He has so much love to give and I can't emphasize enough how smart he is. He is a bundle of joy who is relentless about figuring out how to get to what he wants."

If you have a kitty cube, stool, or pet steps, that will help him get easily into your bed or other high areas without any problems at all.

Nothing will make Nelson happier than finding his forever family. What a wonderful way that will be to welcome the new year! We are looking for someone to make his dreams come true. If you are looking for a sweet lap kitty who is also a "purr machine" and absolute "gem of a kitty", then Nelson is the one for you! Might you be the one to make his dreams come true?
